Producing the first motorcycle campaign for GEICO was a daunting task but we welcomed the challenge. The entire campaign was shot on 35mm film processed at Colorlab in Rockville and transferred to HDCAM at Henninger.
The aerial photography is accomplished utilizing a nose mount controlled by joystick from the comfort of the back two seats. Motorcycle speed on the Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah’s was approximately 60 mph and the airspeed of the helicopter was 100 mph ... a coordinated effort between pilot and the AD on the ground. The resulting thirty second spot above "Growing Riders" is my favorite among the group of spots we produced.
One of the second season of motorcycle commercials for GEICO MOTORCYCLE
Produced for GEICO MOTORCYCLE I wrote, shot and edited this unique series of spots. Shot on 35mm on Skyline Drive featuring a motorcycle group from Staunton, Virginia
GROWING RIDERS 30 Before drones and digital cameras, this classic 35mm commercial was created by Paradise for GEICO with the aid of a nose mounted Arri 35III, a BellJet ranger, a few dozen riders, precision logistics and an awesome crew. Comparing the two; shooting in 35mm $50K/day, today with a Drone for $3000
